It happens every year ~ the moment in time when you know winter has passed.  Spring makes my heart smile.  The birds begin to play, I believe they are as happy as I am.  I check my miniature Ginkgo tree and touch the small protruding buds – I smile.  It has survived 6 winters and 5 summers in the southwest!  I feel like a proud parent, knowing I’ve done my very best to keep it safe and watch it grow.   Just because you live in the desert doesn’t mean you can’t have amazing colorful flowers.   It just takes a bit more effort and patience.

I thank my Grandmother for the passion I have for plants.  She grew healthy orchids hanging from oak tree limbs, succulents in pots surrounding her front porch, roses, azaleas, and much much more.  What wouldn’t grow in South Florida, right?

Spring also inspires me to paint!   Blooms are rebirth – Life – Breath  Who wouldn’t be excited about Spring!   So, I’m off to paint a mini series called “My Desert Bloom.”

Enjoy your Spring!
