About Me

I’ve been asked so many times,
“So you are an artist?”
I smile politely and say,

“I paint.”

How it Started

My first inclination to draw or paint came to me when I was 11 years old. I was sent home with a letter from my teacher denouncing my talkative behavior in class. My mother immediately sent me to my room to do my homework; I thought drawing my hand would be more interesting. I held up my left hand and drew it precisely. In my mind it wasn’t good or bad, it was just my hand.

In my 40’s I found a folder containing that sketch along with many others I had forgotten about. It made me smile and gave me incentive to follow a passion that started many many years ago.

How It’s Going

Born and raised in Florida my mind sees the ocean, palm trees, sunsets, and flowers. My most memorable dreams are in vivid color. I keep a sketchbook beside my bed so when I awake I can sketch a specific object from my dream. Seven years ago my wife and I moved to the West ~ Sedona, AZ. My artistic mind has been in a whirlwind ever since. I am surrounded by red rocks and open skies. I would say blue skies but every night around sunset the sky can turn orange, magenta, purple, or yellow, you just never know. I find myself constantly motivated to capture the scenes on canvas.

My favorite medium is acrylic. My passion is blending and my brain works in abstract mode. I am an avid gardener and owned a floral shop for six years in Atlanta Georgia. This explains my many paintings of flowers.

My Inspirations

Georgia O’Keeffe

Berthe Morisot

Vincent Van Gogh

And anyone who has the courage to paint for themselves and not what others think they should paint.

Oh, and the stunning geography of the American Southwest.
